The PTC Academy, a training program for mid-career telecom professionals, was held in conjunction with the Pacific Islands Telecommunications Association’s (PITA) conference in Guam, on 27 April, at the Docomo Pacific office in Tamuning.
“Navigating Change” focused on business challenges faced by telecom service providers in a number of roles, including retail fixed network, mobile, data center, and undersea communications providers. The session also examined strategies for revenue growth in the 5G era.
Instructor Tony Mosley, Director, Business Operations, Ocean Specialists, Inc., Guam, lead a discussion on over-the-top providers.
Sean Bergin, President & Co-Founder, APTelecom, Cambodia, led a discussion on how PITA members from small island nations are affected by the shift to next-generation networks.
Consultant Gary Kim discussed the implications of coming next-generation networks, why 5G networks might enable the next wave of mobile revenue growth, and why “moving up the stack” is a vital business strategy for mobile and fixed network providers.
PTC extends its thanks to Docomo Pacific for providing the venue and to PITA for helping recruit students for the program.
