Each year, PTC recognizes excellence in research at the PTC Annual Conference through the Meheroo Jussawalla Research Award for the best participant research paper.
The Meheroo Jussawalla Research Award is named in honor of Meheroo Jussawalla, a leading scholar in the economics of telecommunications. Jussawalla published 15 books in the field and garnered several national and international awards, including two from the Pacific Telecommunications Council.
Congratulations to the 2023 award recipient, Richard Canevez, a postdoctoral scholar from the School of Communication and Information at the University of Hawaii at Manoa. Richard will be presenting his paper “All-encompassing War: An Exploration of Information Disorder Countermeasures Through Smooth and Striated Space” at PTC’23 on Tuesday, 17 January 2023 in Security from 08:30-09:45 HST in the MPCC, Nautilus 1 & 2.

The research committee would also like to acknowledge Ali Nikkhah, Networked Systems Ph.D. Student, University of California, Irvine and his paper “Peering Costs and Fees.” Ali will be participating in the Broadband Policy and Availability session on Sunday, 15 January 2023 from 09:00-10:30 HST in MPCC, South Pacific 3 Ballroom.
