How can telecommunications technologies help humanity?
Telecommunications technologies play a vital part in the essential operations of society. Telecommunications technologies enable participation and development of people in communities and nations disadvantaged by geography. Finally, telecommunications technologies provide a vital infrastructure for national security.
What network-related development will have the greatest impact in our industry?
So far, 5G promises some incredible influence in our industry. In addition to being able to support a hundredfold growth in linked devices per each unit area, 5G will offer ultra-low latency, enhanced data rates, and empower network slicing. We foresee it as changing telecom’s role in the next few years.
Also, wireless data is projected to increase through the 2020s, but it will be the companies that use it to their competitive edge that will survive. Telecommunications companies must ensure that they are flexible enough that their networks can move astonishing amounts of data efficiently and continue to support new technologies.
Is it important for companies to continue to innovate their organization or offerings, and why?
Change is the only constant thing in this world. More so, technologies change very fast and in order for companies to survive, they have to innovate. Innovation helps companies grow, keeps organizations relevant, and helps organizations differentiate themselves. In order to do these things, business leaders must be able to think creatively and embrace innovation into their business models. Simply put, companies cannot stay afloat if they do not embrace innovation and change.

What industry mogul or up-and-coming leader have you followed or are currently following, and why?
One person I really look up to and have been following is Warren Buffett. Very successful, yet he is still a very humble person. He is a titan and the best there is in the industry (investing), and yet he is modest and unassuming in many ways. He is truly an inspiration to me and his mantra – live below your means, don’t forget your roots, save and invest wisely, keep good company, and enjoy your work – have become some of my guiding principles in life. He is living proof and a perfect exemplar that success and humility can coexist, and that success comes to a person who pursues his or her dreams with passion.
