New at PTC’20 are “lightning sessions” in the PTC HUB: fast-paced 10-minute talks, tutorials, debates, presentations, or other quick content bites on subjects of interest to PTC Annual Conference attendees.
Examples might include quick tutorials, pro-and-con debates, targeted overviews of where markets are going, key highlights of research results, or other pointed, sharp discussions on key issues.
Why do this? Many Topical Sessions are lightly attended and require attendees to commit an hour or more of time. Attendees tell us they need quicker sessions.
Since lots of attendees hang out in the PTC HUB area, especially for short periods of time between appointments, the HUB will provide bite-sized, highly-focused chunks of content, requiring only minutes, rather than hours.
The other advantage: many attendees will accidentally encounter compelling content and people they would have otherwise missed.
Silo Breakers
Also new at PTC’20 is cross-discipline/cross-sector content that breaks out of industry silos and specialties, looking broadly at how industry segments or functions interact across ecosystems to create value.
For example, how do core networks, data centers, cloud computing platforms, subsea, and satellite networks enable 5G and the Internet of Things?
How do various business interests of core PTC industry segments enable and support each other? How do they partner to create bigger value chains and revenues, or enable desired human, social, or economic outcomes?
Silo breakers bring to program content, the serendipity that attendees also value at events: accidentally encountering people, ideas, or knowledge they were not deliberately seeking.Review the PTC’20 Call for Participation, and submit your proposal for one of these new speaking opportunities, or a more traditional presentation or workshop. We look forward to seeing you in Honolulu for PTC’20: Vision 2020 and Beyond from 19 to 22 January 2020.
